Reflecting the international business of its clients, Prindle, Decker & Amaro has developed the expertise needed for success in international arbitration. The International Arbitration Group handles disputes involving the oil industry, transportation and trade, shipping, and environmental issues.
The Group is led by a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London who holds specialist credentials in International Law and has over 20 years experience in the successful resolution of international disputes. The Group also includes the outside general counsel of one of America's biggest shippers, with extensive experience in international trade.
Prindle, Decker & Amaro lawyers have published and advised internationally on such matters as International Arbitration in China, the application of the New York Convention of 1958 (on the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards); implementation of the UNCITRAL Model Rules of Arbitration, the resolution of investment disputed under the Washington Convention (on the Settlement of Investment Disputes). Arbitrations have been conducted in and involving the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Caribbean.
Expertise acquired in the management of international arbitration has proven equally effective in the successful resolution of cross-border litigation. Recently, a member of the International Arbitration Group obtained a California judgment for $400 million arising from transactions which occurred entirely in Asia.
Representative cases include:
· ICC arbitration dealing with a charterparty dispute (New York venue).
· CIETAC arbitration dealing with a distribution agreement between an American telecommunications equipment supplier and its Chinese distributor (Beijing venue).
